The report states that the following mission leaders have been recalled to Dhaka: Mustafizur Rahman, High Commissioner to India; Muhammad Abdul Muhith, Permanent Representative to the United Nations; M Allama Siddiqui, High Commissioner to Australia; Mahbub Hassan Saleh, Ambassador to Belgium; and Rezina Ahmed, Ambassador to Portugal.
According to the Hindustan Times, directives from Bangladesh’s foreign ministry to recall the diplomats may have stemmed from discontent or dissatisfaction within the country’s foreign service, as these officials were not political appointees. Additionally, bdnews24.com reported that the ministry instructed the diplomats to return “without delay” on Tuesday.
An official order, shared by news agency PTI and sent to Mustafizur Rahman, stated: “You have been reassigned to the Headquarters, Ministry of External Affairs, Dhaka. Therefore, you are requested to hand over your current responsibilities at the Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi and return to the HQ in Dhaka without delay. Travel expenses and other allowances for you and your family will be provided according to regulations. This order has been issued with the approval of the relevant authorities and in the public interest.”
