In a shocking incident from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Gaurav Verma, a software engineer and former assembly election candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party, allegedly kidnapped a woman he had been infatuated with. Gaurav, a married man, reportedly lured the woman into his car with the promise of a cheap laptop. Once inside, he restrained her hands and feet and drove her around various locations, eventually taking her to an isolated house where he pressured her to marry him.
The incident unfolded in Rewa’s University Police Station area. During the ordeal, Gaurav, along with his accomplices Nikhil Saket and Shani Saket, left to get food. Seizing this opportunity, the driver unlocked the door and helped the woman escape. She then informed her family, who promptly reported the matter to the police.

Rewa Police Superintendent Vivek Singh quickly activated multiple police teams to locate and arrest the suspects. Gaurav Verma, along with his accomplices Nikhil and Shani Saket, was apprehended shortly afterward. The police recovered the car, ropes, black cloth, tape, and a knife used in the crime. During questioning, the suspects admitted their involvement, and further investigation is ongoing.
Gaurav’s background adds a twist to the case. He had previously left his IT job in Delhi to contest the 2018 assembly elections in Rewa, but his defeat impacted his financial situation. Despite being married, his obsession with the woman led him to plot this abduction. The police are now investigating whether the suspects were involved in similar incidents.
