IndiGo, operated by InterGlobe Aviation, has filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against Mahindra Electric in the Delhi High Court over the use of “6E” in Mahindra’s upcoming electric SUV, the BE 6e. IndiGo claims the use of “6E,” which is synonymous with its airline brand, infringes on its trademark.
In response, Mahindra stated that its trademark application for “BE 6e” falls under Class 12 (vehicles) and does not pose a conflict with IndiGo’s standalone “6E” associated with airlines. The automaker emphasized that the distinct branding and styling of “BE 6e” prevent any risk of confusion.
Mahindra also noted that it is actively addressing IndiGo’s concerns and is seeking an amicable resolution. The case is set for hearing on December 9, 2024.
Mahindra recently unveiled the BE 6e and XEV 9e SUVs on November 26, expanding its electric vehicle portfolio. The BE 6e, priced at ₹18.9 lakh (ex-showroom), boasts a range of 682 km, while the XEV 9e, priced at ₹21.9 lakh, offers a 656 km range. Mahindra has committed over ₹12,000 crore to its EV business.
