A recent incident has left the community shocked. After being bitten by a Russell’s viper, a man named Prakash Mandal displayed remarkable courage. Instead of fleeing, he grabbed the snake by its mouth and carried it to the hospital. The scene at Maya Ganj Hospital was chaotic as he entered, holding the live snake in one hand. Despite the urgent need for medical attention, the doctors informed him that treatment couldn’t commence until the snake was safely removed. Concerned by the possibility of the snake escaping, some bystanders urged caution. After a considerable wait, Prakash gradually sat down and lay on the ground while still gripping the snake, eventually managing to secure it long enough for medical staff to begin treatment.
Prakash’s condition is reportedly serious, and he has been under observation since around midnight. This incident has highlighted the dangers posed by the Russell’s viper, which is listed among the world’s five most venomous snakes. Residents living along the banks of the Ganges in Bhagalpur are increasingly worried about these encounters, especially following the recent attacks.
As the local authorities address this ongoing issue, the community remains on high alert, urging everyone to take precautions against these potentially life-threatening snakes.
