A video of a reckless youth driving a Thar SUV at high speed on a footpath in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, has sparked widespread outrage on social media. Shared on multiple platforms, the video captures the perilous act that endangered pedestrians and prompted calls for strict action.
The clip, reportedly shot by a person in a different car following the Thar, showcases the vehicle dangerously maneuvering through a footpath meant for pedestrians. The alarming footage has led to an uproar online, with users expressing anger over the blatant disregard for public safety.
One user commented, “What is going on in this country? Everything is happening on the footpath. Vehicles are running on the footpath instead of the road, people are sleeping on the footpath instead of their homes, and shops are also running on the footpath.” Another urged authorities, saying, “Officials, please take cognisance of the matter and take strict action.”
Police Action
Responding to the incident, the Indirapuram police station has registered a complaint under the Motor Vehicles Act. The police have initiated proceedings to seize the involved vehicle and are actively working to locate the driver for further legal action.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police (Trans Hindon), Commissionerate Ghaziabad, shared an update on X (formerly Twitter):
“Taking cognizance of the above case, Indirapuram police station registered a case under relevant sections and initiated action to seize the vehicle shown in the video under the Motor Vehicles Act. Continuous efforts are being made to arrest the concerned driver. Further legal proceedings are underway.”
