French Ambassador to India, Thierry Mathou, has reinforced the growing strategic partnership between France and India, spotlighting key developments across defense, education, and global security. Describing their defense collaboration as “strategic intimacy”, Mathou emphasized joint initiatives such as Rafale jets, Scorpene submarines, and a new roadmap for defense technology. These initiatives align with India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat push for self-reliance.
On the educational front, France plans to host 30,000 Indian students next year to foster cultural and academic exchanges. An upcoming education fair will introduce students to a range of opportunities, including English-taught programs.
Additionally, Mathou echoed India’s strong stance against terrorism, condemning attacks on civilians and expressing France’s unwavering support for Israel’s security. He also highlighted that the close rapport between Prime Minister Modi and President Macron remains a crucial asset in advancing these multi-dimensional ties during turbulent times.
