Initially, the police believed that Mithilesh might be a victim of a scam and released him after he signed a bond. However, as investigations progressed, a different story began to emerge.
The police conducted a thorough investigation to verify Mithilesh’s claims, focusing on the supposed perpetrator, Manoj Singh. They discovered four individuals named Manoj Singh in the village, but Mithilesh failed to identify any of them as the person who had allegedly defrauded him. Further scrutiny of Mithilesh’s mobile records revealed that on the day he claimed to have met Manoj Singh, he was actually in Lakhisarai, casting doubt on his entire narrative.
Compounding the discrepancies, Mithilesh had mentioned an uncle who supposedly lent him the ₹2 lakh to pay Manoj Singh. However, this uncle denied any involvement or knowledge of such a transaction. The two phone numbers provided by Mithilesh for Manoj Singh turned out to be inactive, adding to the unraveling of his story.
Despite the gravity of the situation, Mithilesh’s narrative captured the imagination of the public, leading to his rapid rise as a social media sensation. His YouTube channel, which has now been renamed “Viral IPS Mith 707,” has amassed over 16,000 subscribers and garnered more than 800,000 views. The channel features various interviews and content highlighting his fake IPS persona. Notably, he has also starred in several Bhojpuri songs, including a popular track titled “Fake IPS,” further solidifying his unexpected celebrity status.
Currently, Mithilesh has gone into hiding, with his father claiming that he left for Patna under the pretext of filming a video. Meanwhile, police officials have stated that they are continuing their investigation and have indicated that Mithilesh may face arrest if new evidence surfaces.
